Sella and Stripe are required to abide by what are called Know Your Customer (KYC) laws. These guidelines and regulations require us to verify our customers’ identities in order to protect ourselves and our customers from financial fraud, money laundering, and other illegal activity.
When you provide Stripe with your social security number (SSN), you’re providing that information so that Stripe can verify your identity. Your SSN will be encrypted and verified by Stripe, an industry leader in secure payment processing. Your SSN is not visible to Sella employees, nor will we ever share your SSN. It is only used to verify your identity when you set up your account to receive payments.
